La poétesse palestinienne Dareen Tatour a été condamnée pour « incitation à la violence » par la cour israélienne de Nazareth, pour un poème qu’elle a écrit. L’accusation réclamait une longue peine d’emprisonnement et le verdict final a été prononcé le mardi 31 juillet 2018.

Dareen a passé TROIS ans au total en maison d’arrêt et en prison, entre octobre 2015 et septembre 2018. Elle a été remis en liberté conditionnelle le 21 septembre 2018 à condition de ne publier aucune œuvre d’art politique.

Le 6 novembre 2018, elle se tiendra à la barre une nouvelle fois pour faire appel de son verdict. Un groupe d’artistes et d’activistes a appelé des musiciens à contribuer à une compilation musicale sur un album à paraître pour protester contre le verdict de Dareen, qui s’intitule « Poem on Trial » (Un poème au tribunal).

Chaque musicien a été invité à contribuer à ce projet en proposant une œuvre de n’importe quelle nature en utilisant, en support pour les paroles, le texte du poème de Dareen. Ce projet à pour but de déstabiliser et de dévoiler l’authenticité de sa conviction en diffusant son poème « illégal » au moyen de la musique et de l’art.

Palestinian poet Dareen Tatour was convicted by an Israeli court in Nazareth of “incitement to violence” for a poem she wrote. The prosecution demanded a long prison sentence and final sentencing was announced on Tuesday, July 31, 2018.
Dareen spent a total of THREE years under house arrest and in prison, between October 2015 - September 2018. She was released on September 21, 2018 on probation with the condition that she not publish any political art work.

On November 6, 2018 she will stand before the court once again, appealing against her verdict.
A group of artists and activists issued a call inviting musicians to contribute to a forthcoming digital compilation album in protest at Dareen’s conviction, called Poem On Trial.
Each musician was invited to contribute a piece of work in any genre using, as their lyrical base, the text of the poem by Dareen. The project aims to undermine and expose the true basis of her conviction by repeating and distributing her ’illegal’ poem via the medium of music and art.
